Terms used in CloudPLAY Softphone desktop documentation.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Attended transfer | Puts the caller on hold, lets you speak to the recipient, then connects them. Also called attendant transfer. |
| Auto answer | Softphone answers incoming calls automatically when this toggle is on. |
| Blind transfer | Transfers a call immediately without speaking to the recipient first. |
| BLF | Busy Lamp Field — shows whether a favourited enterprise colleague is available (green) or busy (red). |
| Caller ID | The name or number shown to the person you call. |
| CloudPLAY Softphone | Softphone app for desktop (Windows / macOS) and mobile. |
| DND | Do Not Disturb — blocks incoming calls and messages in Softphone. |
| DTMF | Touch-tone sounds sent when you press keys during a call (IVR menus, PINs). |
| Enterprise / SIP contacts | Company directory contacts synced by your administrator. |
| Extension | Your internal phone number within the organisation. |
| Favourites | Starred contacts for quick dialling; used with BLF for enterprise colleagues. |
| IVR | Interactive Voice Response — automated phone menus. |
| Registration | When Softphone is connected to the CloudPLAY server and ready for calls. |
| Self-view | Your own camera preview during a video call. |
| Softphone | Phone software on your computer instead of a physical desk phone. |
| VoIP | Voice over Internet Protocol — calls over the internet. |
