Terms used in CloudPLAY Softphone mobile documentation.

TermDefinition
BLFBusy Lamp Field — shows whether a favourited enterprise colleague is available. Enabled automatically when you add an enterprise contact to favourites from their contact card.
Blind transferTransfers a call to another number immediately without speaking to the recipient first.
Attended transferPuts the caller on hold, lets you speak to the recipient, then connects them.
Caller IDThe phone number shown to the person you call. Your organisation may offer multiple outbound numbers.
CloudPLAY SoftphoneThe mobile app in the App Store and Google Play — purple icon with cloud and phone.
Conference / three-way callA call with three participants, created by merging two active calls.
Deployment emailEmail from IT containing your QR code and setup instructions.
DNDDo Not Disturb — blocks incoming calls and messages on the softphone.
DTMFDual-tone multi-frequency — touch-tone sounds sent when you press keys during a call (IVR menus, PINs).
ExtensionYour internal phone number within the organisation (for example 101).
IVRInteractive Voice Response — automated phone menus (“Press 1 for sales”).
MergeCombines two held calls into one conference.
QR codeScannable code in your deployment email used to register the app.
RegistrationWhen the app connects to the CloudPLAY server (shown by the green status icon).
SIPSession Initiation Protocol — technology used for VoIP calls. Enterprise contacts are often labelled SIP in the app.
SoftphonePhone software on your mobile device instead of a physical desk phone.
VoIPVoice over Internet Protocol — phone calls over the internet.
