Terms used in CloudPLAY Softphone mobile documentation.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| BLF | Busy Lamp Field — shows whether a favourited enterprise colleague is available. Enabled automatically when you add an enterprise contact to favourites from their contact card. |
| Blind transfer | Transfers a call to another number immediately without speaking to the recipient first. |
| Attended transfer | Puts the caller on hold, lets you speak to the recipient, then connects them. |
| Caller ID | The phone number shown to the person you call. Your organisation may offer multiple outbound numbers. |
| CloudPLAY Softphone | The mobile app in the App Store and Google Play — purple icon with cloud and phone. |
| Conference / three-way call | A call with three participants, created by merging two active calls. |
| Deployment email | Email from IT containing your QR code and setup instructions. |
| DND | Do Not Disturb — blocks incoming calls and messages on the softphone. |
| DTMF | Dual-tone multi-frequency — touch-tone sounds sent when you press keys during a call (IVR menus, PINs). |
| Extension | Your internal phone number within the organisation (for example 101). |
| IVR | Interactive Voice Response — automated phone menus (“Press 1 for sales”). |
| Merge | Combines two held calls into one conference. |
| QR code | Scannable code in your deployment email used to register the app. |
| Registration | When the app connects to the CloudPLAY server (shown by the green status icon). |
| SIP | Session Initiation Protocol — technology used for VoIP calls. Enterprise contacts are often labelled SIP in the app. |
| Softphone | Phone software on your mobile device instead of a physical desk phone. |
| VoIP | Voice over Internet Protocol — phone calls over the internet. |
